Basic geography definitions (rocks) - GCSE level?

I have tried to look on line but it seems as if they are all over complicating it please could someone try and explain to me what the following are and how they are formed.

Batholith

Escarpment

Spring line settlement

Dry Valleys

Thanks in advance :)|||Batholith = a large intrusion of igneous rocks which cooled inside the Earth's crust.

Escarpment = chalk hills (which are exposed once the clay has eroded).

Spring line settlement = people choose to settle next to a spring line (good water supply) and this spring line is found where the chalk and clay meet.

Dry valleys = these are 'dry' valleys - they were formed during the Ice Age when large rivers flowed over the frozen ground.

Hope I helped :)
